Berry Party Ball

I guess you could say I am having a ball…
Berry Appetizer Ball

It’s that time of year where we begin to think about many celebrations coming up in the next few months.

From Memorial Day, to graduations, to the Fourth of July…it’s time to bring family and friends together and celebrate during the warmer weather.  My “Berry Party Ball” is perfect for all of those occasions, and more.

Not only is this berry ball easy to make, it’s healthy, and it’s simply gorgeous.  My teenage berry lover couldn’t get enough of it.  All these juicy berries displayed together really make you crave a couple.  Even if you don’t like fruit.

I started with a 6 inch foam ballhowever you can use any size, but keep in mind, the larger you go, the more expensive the project will be.  I then wrapped it in tin foil which I find is easier than plastic wrap.

Wrap a foam ball in tinfoil and stick berries or other fruit in it for a fun festive (and healthy) appetizer at your next party.

After I had a nice big tight tin foil ball, I searched my kitchen cabinets for a pretty glass that would hold the ball steady.  This thrift store blue one was perfect because I knew it would bring out the blue in the berries.

See how it does that?

I purchased: (2) 16 oz. containers of strawberries, (1) small 6 oz. container of black raspberries, (1) small 6 oz. container of red raspberries, and (1) 6 oz. container of blue berries.  The tooth picks are from the dollar store.

After rinsing all of the berries well, and cutting off the top of the strawberries, I began inserting. I started with the large strawberries scattering all over the tin foil ball.  Then, I inserted the other berries, occasionally sticking in a few blueberries with out any tooth picks as fillers.  They tucked in nicely.

I should mention that my ball rested on this glass nicely.  If you’re concerned that it could tip over, you could cut a flat bottom in your foam ball and then you could put it on a plate.

To be honest, I think it would look pretty no matter how you arrange the berries.  Of course other fruit would work too, but keep in mind some fruit turns brown with out at least a squirt of lemon juice.

My “Berry Party Tree” can also be made ahead a day or 2 depending on how fresh your fruit is.  I stored mine in the refrigerator with 2 unused shower caps on it.

Make a Berry Part Ball a day before your party and store it like this..

Don’t forget you can serve whipped topping on the side, or any other fruit dip of your choice.  Chocolate fondue would be another great choice.

This pretty Berry Party Ball will be a huge hit at your next party!

This idea could fit any holiday theme but adding little decorations on toothpicks. My first thought was tiny American flags for the 4th, but I immediately thought of half a dozen more. Love this! Thanks, Julie.
