Breakfast Bread?  What’s that?

“Ham & Cheese Breakfast Bread” is a recipe I made up, and can’t remember the first time I tried it, but it’s perfect for weekend breakfasts.  Sometimes I serve it alone, with fruit, or eggs pair well too.  Also convenient to make ahead for busy days.  I just made it for Christmas morning.

It’s basically ham & cheese rolled up into pizza dough.  It gets all “swirly” and makes you want to dive right in when you slice it.  You’ll also notice air swirls that really give this bread some home made character.  You literally end up ripping it apart.

Here’s the pizza dough I use.

I find it in the frozen bread section.  It takes about 8 hours to defrost on the counter (in the bag) and to look like this.

It should be room temperature before you work with it.

Defrosted Pizza Dough 2

I rub a little olive oil on my hands, and on the cookie sheet.  No flour required.

Then I spread it out, which can take a few minutes and some practice.

After you get it as large as you can with out tearing it, load it up with thin sliced ham and cheese of your choice.

I use reduced fat cheddar.

This time I added some fresh chives I had frozen from my garden.

That tutorial is here: “Freezing Chives

You can see the pizza I made with the same dough in the back ground.

I figured I would use 2 doughs and make one of each.

These are night time cell phone pics, so they aren’t the best.

I hope you try it~
