Bloggers receive a ton of e-mails.
We carefully weed through all the SPAM enjoying sweet comments from our readers and fellow bloggers.
Occasionally, we receive inquiries and legitimate business opportunities.
Then, when we are really, really, REALLY lucky…
and the stars are lined up perfectly…
and I cross my fingers and don’t walk under my ladder…
we get an e-mail from a magazine.
Birds & Blooms Magazine is a nationally distributed magazine and is rated
the #1 Bird & Garden Magazine in America.
The Associate Creative Director from Birds & Blooms was inquiring about my “Garden Hose Wreath“.
She said mine was the prettiest she had seen, and would like to feature it in their August/September issue.
My stomach dropped to the the floor and the birds starting singing…
the sky opened up and angels began to dance…
It was a dream come true!
Hold up RED.
{insert car brake screech noise here}
She said the photo needed to be a certain size.
She asked if that would be a problem?
Gulp.
Fortunately, I had finally figured out how to adjust the resolution in my camera.
So…
I would need to redo the photo shoot in the appropriate resolution.
That shouldn’t be too hard.
I told her we had a deal!
Double Gulp.
I flew went down stairs into the basement and got the wreath out of storage.
I can’t lie, it was a mess.
It was dusty, and even had a few spiders on it.
I carefully cleaned it off and realized it was a little bit “warped” too.
It no longer hung perfectly like it once did.
I panicked for about 30 seconds, then I put my big girl pants on and adjusted everything.
It was totally fine. Funny how stress can take over.
Now, I had to find yellow tulips.
As you can see…I never found them.
I brought home a couple different daisies, and my hubby was the one that actually said the yellow looked the best.
Boy, was he right.
It turned out beautiful, and Birds & Blooms loved the new photo.
WOOHOOO!!!
Birds & Blooms is a gorgeous magazine.
(not just because my hose is in it either)
I hope you look for it the next time you are at a news stand.
I found mine at my grocery store, front and center on the shelf.
Our Garden Hose Wreath is in the centerfold.
Before I go…
I’ve been meaning to share this pretty blue urn with you.
It was a Mother’s Day gift from my family this year.
I just checked, and they are actually on sale now.
You can find it at Grandin Road.
I planted Begonias in mine and it’s at our front door.
I’m in love with it.
Have a great weekend, folks!
