Hello all and happy November.

I just love this month since it is so full of cool nights where you can cuddle up with loved ones and opportunities to gather with friends and family. Not to mention the sweaters, warm tea, and flannel sheets, I love fall! At our house this weekend we are hosting a friends Thanksgiving, and that has me thinking of how I can create a warm and inviting table. Today I’ve gathered up Thanksgiving table ideas for you. Maybe you’ll find a new way to decorate your holiday dinner, come see!

Thanksgiving Table Ideas

Layers

With decorating, sometimes the difference between a bare table and plate setting and a magazine-worthy one, is because of the layers.

Think about the different elements you can bring to the table to give it some dimension and depth.

It can be fabrics, place settings, candles and holders,or flowers.

Try a table cloth, runner and charger for that layered look, like I did here when I made this holiday table runner.

Adding some interest to your table doesn’t always have to mean with fabric.

You can make an interesting centerpiece or chalkboard wood runner like Liz Marie did at Liz Marie Blog.

Even fabric-covered books or pieces of wood can do.

Colors

An unexpected color can be just what your table needs for a little pick me up.

Your guest will love a fresh take on things, and you’ll probably have a little fun trying something new.

Jennifer at Celebrating Everyday Life set her turkey day table with blue and orange this year,

but maybe you are into purple, pink, or yellow?

Or perhaps neutral is your thing and you’d like to go black and white.

Jennifer at Dimples and Tangles included stripes that let the food shine and since it’s Thanksgiving, why not?

Sparkle

I think every holiday table needs some sparkle don’t you?

This year it’s easier than ever to bring some bling to your dinner because you can find glassware, plates, serving dishes, and more in shades of gold, silver, or bronze that all work.

You can add them in so many ways. Such as on napkin rings, chargers, candle holders or in the center piece.

Carrie at Making Lemonade set a modern metallic table and used a silver runner, gold dot tablecloth, and silverware.

This setting from Style Me Pretty has gold dipped stemware, which could easily be made yourself.

Nature

This is the perfect time of year to let nature do the talking and bring some outdoor elements inside.

Kristen at Sophia’s used leaves, vegetables, and wood to create a green and natural tablescape. Isn’t it inviting and warm?

Maybe you are great at centerpieces and can use a wood box or make one yourself. Wood is a perfect way to bring nature into your home. Picture it as name cards, candle holders, salt and pepper shakers or more. Tricia at 724 South House made this box to hold seasonal elements and the best thing is, it can be used all year.

Before you go I have one last tip for setting a thanksgiving table. If you’re not sure exactly where the forks or glasses go,

Kim at Today’s Creative Blog will show you what pieces you need for formal or informal settings.

Do you plan to do something new on your Thanksgiving table this year? Maybe this gave you some ideas?

I hope you have a wonderful holiday and look forward to seeing you in December for more DIY and decorating. In the meantime, enjoy more of Julie’s tasty recipes and find me on my blog, Decor Adventures, or on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.

  1. Wow, thanks for the beautiful inspiration! I really liked how the blue and orange setting looked and what a beautiful table with that striped runner and the neutrals, very well put together. I’m specially drawn to the metallics this year too – fabulous!
