We all have dreams.
I’ve made it no secret that one of my dreams is to have redheadcandecorate.com featured in a magazine.
Why on Earth do I wish such a thing?
—
Love. Passion. Tenacity. Faith. Rewards. Joy. Fulfillment.
I think that sums it up, and in that order too.
I hope you all will click on the pretty magazine cover up there from “Simply Shabbilitious”.
This Christmas issue is packed full of beautiful Christmas decor.
It’s free too.
You will find redheadcandecorate.com featured towards the end.
I’m waiting for my printed copy to put on our coffee table right now 🙂

I know you came here to see our Thanksgiving table, so I better get on with it.
I have a confession.
This is not our Thanksgiving table.
It’s too cold in Michigan to eat outside in November silly!
However, I hope our “staged” “Affordable Thanksgiving Table” will inspire you.
It all started last Summer.
Our friendly neighbor sent me a message on Facebook and asked if I wanted her table/hutch for free.
I immediately said, “Rick will pick it up this weekend!”
So, this is what it looked like.
Cute is an understatement.
I knew this would look fab with a little paint.
I knew the man for the job too.
My Dad…Bob.
My Dad deserves all of the credit here.
He made several trips back & forth and even took the chairs home with him to finish them.
He will be receiving the cash once we sell it.
So, while it was sitting in our garage, I said to myself,
“Self, that would make a fabulous ‘Afforable Thanksgiving Table’ “
After it was finished, my hubby and I carried it out onto our driveway.
(our neighbors are use to it)
I staged it all, and took these photos over a month ago when it was still warm.
When I began to think of the colors I wanted to use,
I knew I wanted to use the little blue plates I had found recently for .25 each at the thrift store.
I find a ton of my inspiration at thrift stores.
I can’t stress that enough.
The next thoughts were centered on the runner.
It’s where I always begin my tablescapes.
I wanted something “burlap-ish”.
Weeks prior I came across “All Purpose Masking Paper”.
I had never seen it before, but it is some really cool stuff.
Perfect for laying across the table, taping secure, and writing guests names on it.
Or the kids can draw on it.
Once that was secure, I went around the house and gathered my dollar store white plates,
and other dishes that had pops of blue.
We had just gone apple picking so they were perfect for the natural elements.
The cornucopia was found at the thrift store too.
Then, my hubby and I walked around our yard and gathered real leaves, pinecones, and branches.
I admit I do not care for fake flowers or leaves.
No matter where you live, you can always bring in something real.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Don’t forget to try my easy pie crust recipe this year found “here“:
It’s been pinned and shared over 70k times!

What an amazing transformation Julie and Bob!! It is amazing what some elbow grease and paint can do to breathe new life to old furniture. 🙂
Thank you Lisa!
Congrats Julie, your table setting is beautiful!
It’s gorgeous, my friend! Your dad worked wonders with paint and of course you staged it to perfection. I am crushing on the blue accents too. I cannot believe you found those plates for .25 cents. It all looks wonderful together. Too bad it’s so chilly on Thanksgiving…wouldn’t it be fun to eat outside!? Love ya!
Ok, what a great makeover – that dining room set looks sooo much better painted! I think you’ve done a lovely job staging it too, what pretty dishes (LOVE those blue flowered bowls)! That masking paper table runner is awesome, that would be so fun for everyone to doodle on it. I’m printing that pie recipe right now too – I do need to taste that!
Love it! you are so talented and I love how you show us to do things rather inexpensively 🙂 My favorite may be your husband’s comments. I get that same look from my hubby! LOL
Julie, I’m know for picking up free furniture sitting on the side of the road and rehabing it. And making my hubby’s eyes roll when I do 🙂 I picked up this cute little cupboard and gave it my magic touch. I now use it for storing all of the dishes and goodies in that I use for blogging. I was so proud of the way it turned out I wrote a post on it too – lol! Beautiful table and decorations. And WOW to that pie!!
This is so pretty! He did a great job…..and VERY cheap, um reasonably priced! Lol
What a beauty! Free and fabulous! I’d do it too for some of that pie!

😀 I love the white! I think everything looks better with white paint. The table is simply perfect, and I love the pretty pop of blue the plates provide.
I’m visiting from Debbiedoos. I like your blog!
