Painted Floors

Hello, hello! My name is Carrie and I am thrilled to be here sharing one of my favorite projects of all time with you guys. I blog at Lovely Etc. about creating a home you love for less.

While I adore being a wife and mom, I also have an insatiable need to create! I love figuring out how to make beautiful things – even if it means firing up a few power tools. And I am all about finding ways to create exactly what I want for as little money as possible.

Which is exactly how today’s project came about. I was so tired of our old, stained carpet but had no money to afford even the cheapest hardwood floors. So I decided to take matters into my own hands. My husband helped me rip our old stinky carpets up and then I decided to paint and stencil the plywood subfloor that was underneath. It wasn’t the wood flooring I was originally going for, but I figured wood is wood.

Even I wasn’t prepared with how gorgeous those humble painted floors turned out! We’ve now been living with our painted floors for more than two years and they have held up so much better than I ever would have dreamed. Eventually we are still planning to put down hardwoods, but for now I am completely in love with our one hundred percent unique stenciled floors!

Thanks so much Julie for letting me share with your lovely readers!
