Master bathroom is complete!
|
I am very happy to post that our master bathroom is now finished! We love it!Here it is when we first moved in:
I had Rick hang the chandelier where there was recessed lighting, and I had these cute, but colorless curtains. You can see the old counter and gold faucet. The next picture is our attempt to add some wow factor. Well…we did that I guess, but I hated it
Now here is the final product, except for some grout repair and paint touch ups. I hope you enjoy the candles & filled tub! It smelled so good in there while I did this photo shoot!I will also attempt to tell you where we saved some serious cash using what we already had!
Come on in! Time to relax… The little ones are busy in the garden playing…what a great time for a hot bath and some reading…
enjoy! Now for the saving part…I found the metal oval thing-a-ma-jig at one of my favorite stores Kirkland’s in clearance (you should have seen people giving me funny looks carrying this thru the mall it was hilarious), It was originally $100, I got it for $44. I wanted something rustic in the window, got these at Home Depot and are indoor/outdoor blinds. I purchased 2 so I can just have one open if I want. I had to get the full privacy ones because the cheaper ones you could see through (yikes!).Rick and my Dad painted the moldings, doors, and walls, and I spray painted the faucet (they are expresso brown, not black).
Sudz are Sponge Bob kind just so you know! I must tell you…getting new counters is worth every single hard earned penny. We shyed way from Granite this time (see Granite Nightmare), and went with 2 inch thick Corian. We chose this color because I wanted a marble look. We brought home samples to see what matched the existing tile the best. I am very pleased with it. Very happy I went thicker. The Corian guys were like a dream last week. They even used drop cloths and a vacuum!
Home Depot has some great payment plans!
We saved lots by just painting the cabinets and I sanded the oil rubbed bronze knobs down to it’s copper. One of my easy tricks I figured out while doing our kitchen!
We decided to save our money and not do much to the shower…our shower has stainless steel hardware, but it matches good enough! There was no way I was paying over 1k for a new shower door when ours is fine.
We also saved thousands just cleaning up the tile we have. There are all sorts of tricks to clean grout. I did however splurge on a new shower drain plate. A whopping $20. This use to be gold, but in great condition…I sprayed it with a textured stone Rustolium spray paint. So easy and saved $! I also did the gold kleenex box! Woot woot!
Ok…I went spray paint crazy! I did this too… It was an old one I had in the basement. Cha ching!
Are you getting sleepy? Do you want to take a bath now? Almost done!!
How about a nice magazine to read? :)
Here is an inexpensive way to dress up recessed lights. Easy to install and find at Home Depot ! Couple different ones to choose from. I have these in our kitchen too. Thanks Pop! (I call Rick Pop) A little tip…try to think outside the cigar box when decorating your walls. Plain old pictures are, well, expected. Hang something personal, or something that has meaning.
Hope you like it…sure am glad I used what we had. We saved so much and I still feel like I have a completely new bathroom. If you would like some advice on your own bathroom, please send me an e-mail. Maybe a picture!? I’ll be glad to help!
Did you know bloggers can take pictures and talk on the phone at the same time!? (proof in the mirror)
