Christmas Hutch

Facebooktwitterpinterestmail

You didn’t think I was going to let Christmas 2016 slip by with out decorating our built-in hutch in our kitchen, did you?  NO WAY, MAN!  “Christmas Hutch” is in the Christmas books and I had a lot of fun doing it.  If you have a hutch, or a shelf/mantel that you are decorating for when company comes over, maybe you can use a couple of my ideas?

Here’s how our hutch usually looks.  It’s the place I organize the kids school papers, medicine, and my returns, bills & mail usually end up there, too.

BEFORE:

The first thing I did was take everything off and I emptied the glasses out of the cabinets.  That gives me a clean slate and I can think clearer (especially if I add wine to one of the glasses).

Then I added my Santa collection to the cabinets so we could view him through the glass.  I used upside down bowls to place him on, on the bottom shelf so you could see him.

Next, I added the “Merry Christmas” letters that I used on our kitchen mantel a couple years ago.  You can see that post here: “Vintage Christmas”.  The “Christmas” letters are cardboard letters that I painted red.  You can find those HERE.  The “Merry” letters you can find HERE.

The red ornament wreath you can read all about HERE.  Everything else I gathered from around around the house and from within our Christmas decorations.  I also used real Christmas tree for the greens.  Just be careful with the candles if you try this.

The red wine glasses I have had for a million years, but I found some modern ones for you HERE.

I was going to run to the store to get some pre-frosted cookies  bake some fresh cut-out cookies, but then I remembered my daughter made homemade truffles.  I need to get her recipe!  She is something.  I added a little sign in front of the truffles so folks would know what they were and who made them 😀 .

If you’re digging that large Santa, I found a really cute one for you HERE (this one is old).

Have I left anything out?  Oh…the lights!  Believe it or not, you can still buy vintage Christmas lights like these.

Find vintage Christmas lights HERE.

Whoops!  One more thing…I almost forgot to show you how to wrap a scarf around your banister.  You don’t need a scarf that goes the entire length.  I wrapped this red & white one just around the last few feet and loved how it looked so cozy.

Wrap a scarf around the base of your bannister & add a Santa hat for a cozy Christmas idea...

Merry Christmas!
