Did you know The Home Depot offers Workshops at all of their locations for do-it-yourselfers of all ages and experience levels?

Now is your chance to sign up to make your very own Rustic Pumpkin Stand like this one that I made…

DIY Rustic Pumpkin Stand

Of course you wouldn’t have to make yours look like mine unless you wanted to (my basic tutorial is below).

This cute wooden pumpkin could be designed and used in many ways including house plants, candy, magazines, the options are endless.

I stained mine in mahogany and added white Christmas lights, but you could paint yours and skip the lights, or decorate it any way your little pumpkin desires.

The stem is totally optional, too.

I used tree branches…

The witch I purchased years ago at a local gift shop.

Here’s another easier option…instead of inserting the pumpkin stand into the ground, just set it on your front porch, bench, or even directly in your landscaping.

This time I used orange lights.

When you participate in a Home Depot Workshop, you are only responsible for purchasing the materials for the workshop you choose (for this Rustic Pumpkin Stand it cost less than $25).  They gather the supplies for you so they are ready to go when you begin the workshop.

If you bought one of these stands already made, I bet it would cost at least twice that.

They also supply the tools and live tutorial on site while you participate in the workshop.

How cool is that?

Sign up with your significant other, your child, a friend, heck…how about Mom?

I bet these folks would love to spend the time with you.  You could even make it a date.  oo la la.

There are three types of Workshops offered:

Do-It-Yourself (DIY)

Do-It-Herself (DIH)

Kids

Within these Workshops, customers can learn how to build decor projects (like this Pumpkin Stand), how to make easy home repairs (like switching out a faucet), and how to operate tools through demonstration and step-by-step instructions.

That’s a whole lot of DIY GOODNESS right there.

I completely recommend giving one of these free workshops a try at a Home Depot near you.

*The Home Depot’s Workshops are designed to provide a mix of associate-led instruction, demonstration, and some hands-on learning.

*Materials can be purchased to make your own project as well.

In case DIY sounds a bit scary, here’s a few of the steps we took to make our Rustic Pumpkin Stand.

If you see it here, step-by-step, it may seem easy as pumpkin pie.

We started off with just a few pieces of cedar fence pickets from The Home Depot…

Then a few cuts with a circular saw, which was way easier than I anticipated.

(High school wood shop was one of my favorite classes, 25 years later I know why.)

It began to take shape quickly.

This is where I started thinking about what color to make it.

It’s okay if you want to bring your significant other with you to the workshop.

I think you can tell this definitely isn’t my hand, although I did learn and fall in love with this Ryobi Air Strike stapler we purchased from The Home Depot.

It lights up when you staple.

After a few staples and a little wood glue we were almost finished.

Home Depot Pumpkin Project

I just had to stain it, and add a long wooden pointed post to the back so I could display it in my

over grown landscaping…

 Then came the best part.

Decorating it.

I used dried corn to fill the box so I could add cute decorations inside the box.

As mentioned earlier, I made the stem with a bunch of twigs.

The lights screwed into the cedar easily with a bit large enough to allow the light bulb to pull through.

Whoops, don’t forget to add the post (optional).
