Thrift Store Decor Challenge

So, you see all the makeovers all over blog land, and you’ve been inspired 100’s of times.

You’ve been so inspired that you’ve even visited the thrift store after work, or on the weekend to find that perfect chair or table that needs just a couple coats of paint so you can say…,

“LOOK!  I DID A MAKEOVER!”

That’s fantastic.  I love that you are inspired.

However, seeing all of these makeovers can be over whelming, too.

I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be…

Thrift Store Decor Challenge

I’m so excited to be part of this wonderful group of bloggers where we all venture out to the thrift store and find something to make over.  It doesn’t get any better than, that.

So, this is what I found…

Tea Set Makeover

The tea kettle was first, and it was so beautiful.  There was no way I could pass it up.  It’s my second one this year, so maybe a silver tea kettle collection will develop.

For now…I just needed to figure out how to make this baby fit into our “Thrift Store Decor Challenge”.

I put my thrift store goggles on, and I searched further.

Repurposed Tea Set

I began to think very clear and said to myself,

“What’s a tea pot with out tea cups?”

(yes this photo was taken on our drive way)

Rose Tea Set

I’m not sure about you, but at our thrift stores we have a gazillion tea cups.

I ended up finding these 2 with matching saucers for .99 each.  What a bargain.  I love the orange.

What to do with a thrift store tea set!

Now I had to get them home, and figure out how to make them over.

Tea Cup Rose Display

Lucky for me, while at the grocery store, I came across these beautiful pink roses for $9.99.  I never see pink roses, so this was meant to be.

I began to think how beautiful the roses would look resting in the tea set.  How elegant, dainty, and GORGEOUS.  It would all come together perfectly against my Black Stereo Console in our foyer.

Then there’s the Thrift Store Silver Platter Wall behind it…a match made in heaven.

Beautiful Thrift Store Tea Pot Idea

So, remember next time you’re at the thrift store…just look for something cool to to put flowers in.

No paint required.  Makeover complete.

From doing china mosaics I have more than my fair share of tea cups in a box in the garage, and I think I’ve even got the same tea pot waiting on an idea. Flowers make everything look great, guess I should go fetch it.

  2. I love all your finds. The dainty tea cups are perfect for the roses, and who can resist a silver teapot!

Beautiful Julie…. btw, can’t say for sure, but the taller shape makes me think this was actually a coffee pot. The height makes it a great vase!
