Virginia Vacation

The only DIY DECORATING going on around here …is making our bed after sleeping in!

While I’m writing this on vacation in Virginia, I’ll probably be unpacking at home by the time you are reading this.

My husband and I, along with our girls, decided to travel to Virginia for some history, and then down to my BFF’s in Georgia to celebrate my 46th birthday.

Have you ever been to Virginia?   We conquered Virginia Beach, but boy was it hot. 103 degrees hot.  I really love this picture of us.  Especially the funny photo bombers in the back!

If you look closely…you’ll see my new necklace.  The long one.  Can you tell what it is???

If you guessed a camera, you are correct.  In case you didn’t know…I take a lot of photos, so the camera spoke to me at a gift shop in Yorktown.

Yorktown was beautiful, especially at night when we ventured back there to sketch the view across the river.

My daughter convinced me to sketch, too!

Even with the intense heat, we ventured out every day trying to learn all we could about our early American settlers.

While in Yorktown, we visited a museum on the Yorktown River…I couldn’t resist taking some photos of the beautiful woodwork and exhibits.

We also visited Berkeley Plantation which was the home of 2 presidents and Abe himself attended meetings and social functions there.  Believe it or not, there was a real cannon ball stuck in the side of the brick!

It was really hot though, so we took the tour and got out!!

The last day was probably the best…Colonial Williamsburg Marketplace is a must see.  There are fabulous restaurants and candy shops…we nibbled on fudge and found trinkets to take home.

From the the Drum & Fife Band…

To the “Colonial Hauntings Tour” with this fabulous story teller…

This is one trip we won’t ever forget.

Unfortunately, we all know vacations have some bad parts.  Things happen that we can’t control.

Like bad weather.

Or food poisoning.  I ended up in the emergency room due to a very serious bout of food poisoning.

Thankfully, it only lasted about 12 hours.

It was all worth it though…

Virginia is for families! Good, See ya later, Virginia!
