Repurposed Grill Grate to American Flag

Facebooktwitterpinterestmail

I’m really late for my Friday post.

I bet you didn’t even notice, did ya!?

That’s okay…everyone is so busy these days.  Today was the last day of school and I am so thrilled to have our girls home all day.

So…lets get to the Friday post, shall we?

With the Fourth of July coming up, I searched the house for something I could decorate with “Old Glory” in mind…

Turn a grill grate into an American flag with t-shirt & jean scraps!

For some really odd reason I have several unused grill grates from past ovens.  I know that might seem strange, but it’s true.  If you don’t have one…I see them at thrift stores for hardly nothing every time I go.

This “Repurposed Grill Grate to American Flag” just seemed to fit for the season…

Grilling, our beautiful American red, white, and blue flag just really go together. The grill part fits in with Father’s Day, too!  A win win.

I originally wanted to use ribbon, but ribbon is really pricey and everyone uses ribbon.  I wanted something   I had, that would be easy.  Something everyone has.

I went in my closet and looked for anything red, white, and blue.

I ended up finding my old Levis that don’t fit anymore, a red sweatshirt that was out of style, and a white t-shirt was easy.  Rick has about 20,000 of those.

All I had to do, was cut it all into scraps.  I did not measure.  There was no need to make each strip perfect.  In fact…I wanted it to look a “scrappy”.

Scrappi-fied!
