Summer Porch Makeover

Facebooktwitterpinterestmail

Hello, hello! It’s Carrie from Lovely Etc. back to share another of my most favorite home projects. This is one of my home projects that made the biggest difference in how we use and enjoy our home.

porch transformation

We are extremely lucky to have an amazing screened porch running the length of our house. It has an amazing view of the woods behind our house, but when we moved in, the porch was hideously ugly. The walls were painted peach, there were flower boxes on the windows full of noticeably fake flowers, and the floor was plywood covered in green astroturf. Not pretty.

The flowers were easy to get rid of and the walls were quickly freshened up with some white paint, which just left the floors. I turned to my favorite solution for just about any eyesore – paint. I figured you can’t go wrong with a classic checkerboard pattern…and I was right. It turned out awesome!

It has actually been more than five years now since I originally painted these floors. And while I would not change the colors of pattern…there are definitely a few things I would do differently if I were repainting this floor today. You can find a full how-to over at Lovely Etc. along with an update on how they are looking five years later and my tips to make your own floor last even better than my own. Or you can just go check out all the after pictures instead. Thanks for letting me share!
