“I’ll Be Waiting” Graphic

Facebooktwitterpinterestmail

I woke up on Sunday thinking of my brother, Bobby.

I decided to go up stairs and share a couple stories with our girls while they were still in bed.

They love hearing these stories because they were born after Bobby had passed away.

(I wrote more about him here: Bobby)

Then I went down stairs and poured myself my usual big cup of tea and sat down here to answer some e-mails.

Rick makes breakfast on most weekends now so I can keep up on my blogging responsibilities.

He’s pretty good at it too. 🙂

So, as I sat here…the urge to write came to me and I didn’t resist.

This is what I wrote with a photo from our back yard…

I'll Be Waiting by redheadcandecorate.com

Of course I thought of my brother through out the process, but also several other folks…

Including my mother in law, Mary Ellen, my friend Julia’s Mom, and my friend Rose’s son.

I wanted who ever was going to read it to feel connected to it…not just me.

So, the day progressed as usual and I woke this Monday morning.

My mind quickly went back to the poem and I tried to think of a sign my brother may have left yesterday.

Anything…even a tiny little sign.

 There was nothing.

I was sad at first…

but then it came to me.

All of it was the sign.

My chat with the girls, the poem, this post…

It’s all connected…through him.

And now, through YOU.

If you’re reading this, this is YOUR SIGN.

Thank you Julie! It was a long awaited sign for me. I miss m Mom every day and your poem seemed as if it was written about us.

  2. Thanks Julie, I too lost a brother. I think losing a sibling is especially hard. We expect to lose our parents but to lose a sibling while you are still young is very unexpected. The poem is lovely.

I’m so sorry for your loss and am happy you sat down to pen these beautiful words. They say time heals; I feel time helps with some of the raw emotion, but you never forget. I too lost a sister two years ago and my husband 8 years ago. Your poem touched me. Thank you!

I too am so sorry for your loss. I have tears at this moment after reading your beautiful poem. Just this morning, I was in thought about my deceased Mother and Father while looking at a picture of them. I most certainly take your gift as a sign! THANK YOU! There are no coincedences.

  5. Beautiful post, Julie! It’s a wonderful feeling when we get inspired, no matter where that inspiration comes from. And, getting that in your post from your brother has to be very heart warming.

    xoxo

Awww…gave me goose bumps Julie. Just beautiful!

  8. Thank you…for this sign. As I read it, I thought not only of my MIL and FIL and Grandparents but was also reminded to tell everyone who is still “here” that I love them…every single day. xo

  9. Thanks Julie, I needed that. Been thinking about my brother “Rob ” (Bobby) t0o, as well as my Dad and my grandparents and what our friend Tammy must be going through right now. So much sadness and loss lately. I constantly look for signs.

  10. Linda Block says:

Dad died in 1967. Mom died in 1994. A few months after Mom died, I found a nickel on the ground next to my car when I opened the door. This happened 4 days in a row. Didn’t matter where I parked or what parking place, there was a nickel. I’m very sure she was talking to me.

I was very sick the last 2 years. Many times I reached for the phone to call Mother, and then stopped. I still miss her after all these years and talk to her in my prayers often.

Your poem is beautiful. Thank you for sharing it.

    • Julie says:

I love your nickel story…I have a similar occurrence with bees. Yep…bees! Thank you for commenting Linda…it means so much to me.

I lost my 14 year old son on April 4, 2013-almost a year now. This poem touched me, as it is similar to what I say to him every night when I go to bed. Thank you for sharing.

First, my condolences on your loss.

My hubby Daz passed away in 2007. I was JUST talking with my BFF about how he and I had met, and how I was the one who said “Hi” first-and we reminisced about the life D and I had made and how awesome it was, etc. It made me wistful, but now I smile at these memories.

The anniversary of his death will actually be on Easter this year, and my BFF and I talked about that as well…after we hung up I sat down to Pinterest, and immediately found this. LOVE it!

You are SO correct-it’s ALL a sign. ( even though my kids and I find dimes All.The.Time)

  17. That’s beautiful Julie! Writing can be so therapeutic… hugs!

I’ve just spotted this. What a lovely poem and a lovely post! I’m in my sixties, and over the decades I’ve lost many people–through death and otherwise. I found this very meaningful and comforting. Thank you, Julie! Namaste.

Thank you so much for sharing your story of your Angel Bobby.
I actually felt your love for him through your writing. Its beautiful and he will love it. As did all of us reading it too.
I very sadly lost my daughter and only child in 2017. She lived with us and had disabilities and medical issues. We were told she should have only lived to 10 but because of the care and huge amount if love she made it to 34. Stopped by sudden cancer or dr’s missed it before.
She was the love of my life and at 16 I met her future real father as my ex was nothing. She adored him and they developed such a deep bond.. even though she didnt really talk she was so loving and demonstrative in her facial cues. He misses her everyday like I do and he has two grown daughters himself.
We are so excited everytime we get a sign from her. Number 83.
We keep getting it a lot and just stop what we’re doing and say “Hi honey or Cara .. we miss u and love u” 83 means her birth year 1983. We get it anywhere but mostly on our cells. We’ll suddenly glance up at our power and it will be 83%
God bless all of you and your precious Angels. Cara’s mom forever 34 ❤❤😇

    • Julie says:

Oh Dena… such a beautiful story. I am so sorry for your loss of your beautiful Cara! I’ll never look at 83 the same again.
