Big news!

Our “custom designed by redheadcandecorate.com” Florida home is currently for sale or rent.

(please keep in mind most of these photos are from when we lived in it.  The house is 7 years old, and there are repairs and painting that we are in the process of taking care of now.)

141 Carden Place Front View w: name

We built this beautiful home in Jacksonville (St. John’s), Florida in 2007.

I don’t write about it much because it was very difficult to leave a home we only enjoyed for 1 year.

Even looking at that mail box makes me sad 🙁

You see, my husband was unexpectedly transferred back to Michigan.

We had no other choice, but to follow the job.

The only thing that really mattered was that we were together 🙂

Luckily, the company that he worked for paid for the movers to pack everything up, and move us.

That helped, but we really had poured our heart and soul into this home.

It was a dream come true for all 4 of us.

We also had made so many friends in the 6 years we were in Florida.

So, now you know why I don’t talk about it much.

Even though that soft spot has healed quite a bit and we have found our new happiness in Michigan again,

we will always love 141 Carden Place.

It all started here…

we were the second home in this stage of the “Durbin Crossing” development.

The home is situated on a friendly caul-de-sac, and is perfect for children.

The back yard is large and backs up to beautiful trees and palmetto bushes.

The schools in St. John’s County are EXCELLENT, and now I hear there is a k-8 “on site”.

Grocery shopping @ Publix, the mall, and  restaurants are all just down the road.

We really miss our favorite pizza joint…Brooklyn Pizza, not to mention the fresh shrimp at the local fish market.

The the ocean is approx. a 15-20 minute drive East to A1A.

St. Augustine is 25 minutes away.

carden being builtThe entrance to the home has 2 glass doors that we put in after we moved in.

The home is approx. 3,094 square feet, 5 bedrooms with the master suite on the main floor.

It has 3 full baths and 1 powder room.

It’s also equipped with a large laundry room w/ white cabinets and a back yard lanai, and 2 car garage.

Oh, can’t forget the custom fireplace with built ins.

Perfect for Winter nights…we lit it often Nov.-March.

The large family room is also equipped with surround sound wiring.

The lot is perfect for a pool.

In fact…we almost put one in.

My favorite part about the home is the kitchen (view our current kitchen/home “here“.)

It is all in the very carefully “hand picked” details.

Beautiful mahogany colored stain, with clear glass cabinets compliment the slate diagonal ceramic back splash and floor

(foor tiles are 18 in. ceramic tiles on a diagonal-very cool).

The Quartz countertops actually sparkle and have custom edging.

Very easy to clean with soap & water.

(I miss those a lot)

All top of the line appliances.

Carden Kitchen Full View

This kitchen is perfect for cooking quick meals during the week.

That island is so conveniently centered directly where you can prep school lunches.

It’s also a lovely place to hang out and enjoy family and friends while the roast is cooking.

Below, take note of the Gallery Glass door that I hand painted.

More about that here: “Gallery Glass

It leads to the back yard covered lanai.

The light fixture over the table is custom as well.

My husband put it in himself.

This house is perfect for entertaining.

Dining Area Carden 2

In the front of the house there is a sitting area and a full dining room.

To the left of the front door are gorgeous French doors leading to a private, large office.

The office was also one of my favorite rooms because I could work on bills, and watch the girls play at the same time.

You can also get a glimpse of the custom tile at the front door here.

We put the laminate wood floors in ourselves.

Sitting Room & Dining Room

This is the master suite which is very large and has 2 walk in closets.

One for him, one for her.

This room was very quiet and private.

Carden Bedroom

The counters in the bathroom are gorgeous, and very neutral.

Oh, how I miss the 2 sinks and garden tub.

There is a private toilet area with sliding pocket door.

There are 4 bedrooms upstairs.

Two of which have a jack & jill bathroom (2 sinks) with sliding pocket doors, and full tub.

Here is the other full bathroom we used for guests.

It has plenty of counter space, and a cute window I loved.

Here are more views from the front.

Check out that huge porch.

We spent a lot of nights sipping wine out there enjoying our friendly neighborhood.

Once a turtle came up to visit us on there.

Oh, and ferns did wonderful hanging on the hooks we had all year long.

The back yard backs up to a nature preserve, so nothing will ever be built there.

Had no idea you guys lived in Florida. We did too! We were in S. Florida for 9 years after leaving Buffalo. We too built our first home there. Your home is beautiful and I do wish you luck on the sale!

Cul-de-sacs are nice, especially if you have young children.

Beautiful Julie! I didn’t know you still owned the house in Florida. How is the market there? Good Luck! I just love you website. xo

  4. Chrissy says:

WOW! Beautiful! I am from Orange Park, FL but currently live in Houston. I know Florida is struggling with their economy right now so my fingers are crossed that something will work out. Trips back home have been depressing but nice to run into someone from my home town.

If we had seen your home before we bought our home here in Florida we would have snagged it up. It is so beautiful. I am sure someone will fall in love with it !

  6. Jackie says:

Ask your realtor to call or email real estate company’s in Atlanta, Nashville, Knoxville, ect. and ask them to refer any clients that might be looking for a vacation home in Florida. Ask your realtor to offer a 25-35% referral fee… It’s worth a try! If your realtor doesn’t want to do this you are using the wrong realtor. Ask the office manager of these offices to post it on the realtor board in each office so all realtors will see it!

    Hi Julie,

My wife and I are the current owners of 141 Carden, and we could not be happier with the home. You and your family did an amazing job with the floor plan and finishing touches! We plan on living here and rraising our 2 and 4 year old here and enjoying flordia for a long time.

I came across your Webpage by accident, and it is amazing to see your pics with your design you had while you lived there. If you happen to have any pictures of the home during the construction I would love to get a copy if possible. I would love to do a photo album of the house and suprise my wife with it.

Thank you for your time, and building a truly amazing home.

    Best Wishes,

    Jeff

Oh my GOODNESS! Hello, Jeff! I am so happy you found my blog and I will send you photos by e-mail hopefully tonight. What a thoughtful gift for your wife. We are so happy to know that you are enjoying 141 Carden Place. We really put a lot of love into that home and it was so hard to leave after only 1 year. We have nothing but sweet wonderful memories of our girls (now teens) running up and down the stairs in their Dora PJ’s! Thanks so much for making my day. I’ll be in touch soon! ~ Julie (PS I hope you guys will subscribe to my home improvement blog if you’re into the DIY thing!)
