Christmas Tree 2013

Facebooktwitterpinterestmail

Our first Christmas tree on our own was at our first apartment in 1992.

I remember burning out our red vacuum when I tried to clean up the needles with it.

Bad Julie!

21 years later and we still love Christmas tree day.

It stems from our childhood.

When I was 8, I would smell the branches and look at myself in the shiny ornaments.

I would eat chocolate kisses and sit on this couch admiring the tree’s beauty.

That’s me with my new red nail polish my sister painted on for me.

Well, my nails aren’t red anymore, but I’m still eating chocolate kisses, and I’m still admiring the tree.

This years tree is full of tradition and memories.

Every ornament holds a story.

Including the angel that is 40 years old.

We all participated, even our new kitty, Sylvia.

I went a step further this year with a tureen I found at a thrift store.

I filled it with white lights and big bulbs.

If you look closely you will see the cord.

We are enjoying the tree against the new color on the walls.

Depending on the time of day the tree seems to transform itself.

I tried to capture that for you in the photos.

Our living room has an open loft.

Don’t pay any attention to the dust on the fan.

It’s an optical illusion 😉

While up there I noticed the tree’s reflection was even prettier.

You may have noticed the toboggan on the wall.

It was a steal for $38.

It’s the final touch on our “Winter Beach Lodge Living Room”.

If we ever want to use it, we can just unscrew it 🙂

Christmas Tree 2013

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!

Before I close, I have more tree inspiration.

I invited some of my favorite blog friends over so I could share their trees with you.

Each one is beautifully unique and has it’s own personality.

Just like a snowflake, no 2 trees are ever alike.

Enjoy!

Just beautiful, Julie! I love the way the entire room looks as well as the view from the loft. I love that huge mirror too! Thanks for sharing the other trees…my computer is out and I haven’t been able to visit…using the apt business center when I can.

Thanks for sharing more of your beautiful home! Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas!

Too funny, we have the EXACT same angel, it’s on our “handmade” ornament tree in the entryway!

Your tree is gorgeous and I love the room it’s in! The view of the woods beyond the tree is great! It really does have a cozy lodge feel with the beams and fireplace – love it! And, I see that you know the proper way to take a tree in and out of a door – stump first. Our first tree was awful. We cut it ourselves but it was basically dead by Christmas. When we went to take it out, Jim carried it out tip first and it was like turning an umbrella inside out! The branches bent backwards, then sprung forward and every single dried up needle left flew off the tree! They were in the house, outside of the house, everywhere! All we could do was laugh and get out the broom! LOL! Merry Christmas! Hugs, Leena

That is hysterical! At least you knew to get the broom out. I killed a vacuum cleaning ours up once! lol Thanks Leena! Love ya girl!!

  12. Julie, that room is gorgeous! I love the theme. You are such a clever girl. And, the tree…beautiful! Had to laugh at that photo of you when you were little. I can see that cute personality shining through in you still. As a matter of fact, your pose in the photo up top is very similar.

  15. Oh my goodness, Julie ~ absolutely beautiful. Your tree is the kind I dream about!

  16. Everything looks great, Julie! What I remember from tree acquisition in upstate NY is shaking the tree free of snow before we brought it inside. That activity was pretty much a joke, as there was always a huge puddle on the floor in the morning.
